HCL Staff Success: Anne-Marie Mantey

We are back with another Staff Success story,  spotlighting Anne-Marie Mantey, a Contract Supervisor at HCL.


Anne-Marie has been with HCL since 2014 and has enjoyed a variety of roles within the business over the past ten years. She joined the HCL family as an Assistant Cook and progressed along the HCL Career Path to become a Mobile Cook Manager, a position she held for six years. Just over a year ago, Anne-Marie became a Contract Supervisor.

“I was attracted to the company by the fact that the work allowed me the flexibility to be there for my young children, as that was of great importance to me. I have stayed all these years because I believe in the company’s ethos that every child should have access to healthy, nourishing meals that give them the foundations to grow, learn and achieve their potential.”

Anne-Marie shared what she enjoys about working at HCL:

“I have been very happy with the company because of the amazing people I have met while working here and the fact that HCL recognises the importance of providing high-quality equipment to work with and regular, up-to-date training.”

Reflecting on her career at HCL, Anne-Marie values the learning opportunities that HCL has provided and appreciates how it aligns with her belief that children thrive when they’ve had the best start and a warm, healthy meal.


“In my role as an Assistant Cook, I mostly enjoyed having the opportunity to learn new things. I love cooking, so you could say that in the kitchen, I am in my element – it’s something I have enjoyed since I was young. This job has allowed me to pair my passion with my firm belief that all children should have a good start in life, through quality education and the right nourishment. Now, as a supervisor, I find it rewarding that I can take what I have learnt and help my colleagues. There is still more for me to learn, which I am thoroughly enjoying.”

HCL places a strong emphasis on skills training, health and safety, and safeguarding. Our Training Team consistently delivers training to our kitchen staff throughout the year. Anne-Marie values the courses she has completed to perfect her skills across the various roles she has held at HCL. These include, but are not limited to, Basic Food Hygiene, Food Safety Management (Levels 2 and 3), Special Diets, Nutrition Awareness, Safeguarding, FSM Operations, Manual Handling, COSHH, HACCP, Natasha’s Law, and Introduction to Health and Safety.

“The Food Safety Management course was a systematic approach to controlling food safety hazards within a food business based on the principles of HACCP. Through this course, I learnt how to ensure that the food I made was safe to eat. The hygiene and food safety courses provided me with an in-depth knowledge of how to handle both food and myself within the kitchen environment.”
“It has been an amazing journey with HCL and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy every part of it.”
