What's on our latest Primary School Winter Menu?

As we jump straight back into the swing of things, we thought we’d share our top dishes from our current and standard primary school Winter menu with you. Your children will have been enjoying them since November and may be coming home telling you which is their favourite. One thing is for certain, they’re all pupil approved, delicious and rich in nutrients!

Did you know that 80% of children are not eating enough vegetables?

We’ve launched a plant-based meal option once a week, on our standard menu, to encourage healthy eating and environmental responsibility. Offering plant-based choices – veggies, beans, pulses, and lentils – provides essential vitamins, minerals and fibre to pupils’ diets.

When we develop our menus, our team of Nutritionists, Food and Menu Chef and Coordinators work hard to create delicious meals that meet the School Foods Standards. The team also conduct menu tasting trials with pupils to ensure they’re pupil approved!

Introduced in our last menu, our Homemade Vegan Sausage Roll has been a BIG HIT! The filling is made with mashed butter beans, sage, onion, and tomato all wrapped up in golden puff pastry. The taste and texture are very similar to sausage meat! A healthier alternative - lower in salt and fat and packed full of vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates and protein. This time we are serving it with mashed potato and the option of gravy for a warm and comforting autumn dish.

Harry Ramsden’s Salmon & Sweet Potato Fishcake

A mild salmon flavour, sweetened with sweet potato and coated in crispy, golden breadcrumbs. Harry Ramsden’s Junior is made in Britain and is MSC-certified. The word ‘Junior’ denotes that the produce range is designed specifically for children. The portion size, fat and salt levels all meet the School Food Standard guidelines.  During our food tasting trials, 95% of pupils gave a thumbs up and love it!
